Simhachalam - Sri Varaha Narasimhaswamy Temple


Location:

Air : The nearest airport is at Vishakhapatnam, which is well connected with flights from major cities.

Rail : The nearest railway station is Vishakhapatnam Railway Station. From Chennai - Calcutta lane, it is around 20-kms, and is well connected with trains to all important destinations in A.P. and India viz. New Delhi, Mumbai, Calcutta, Chennai, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Bhubaneswar etc.

Road : There are frequent buses operated between Vizag and Simhachalam and the main bus stand is at Vishakhapatnam. APSRTC operates buses to all important towns/cities in Andhra Pradhesh like, Hyderabad, Vijayawada, Rajahmundry, Tirupati and so on. There is bus facility from the foot of the hill to the temple for every 10 to 15-minutes.

Place to stay :

The Devasthanam of Simhachalam provides accommodation facilities for pilgrims. There are choultries, cottages and guesthouses with all facilities.

General Information of Simhachalam:

Simhachalam - Temple Simha (simham) means "Lion", and Chalam means "hill". Since, the Perumal reside in the hill, this sthalam is called with the name "Simhachalam".

This is one of the great sthalams of Sri Narasimhar other than Ahobilam, Sholingar, Mattappalli etc.

This sthalam is surrounded by huge mountain and as these mountains are said to be contain lots of trees with great medicinal values. So, by visiting this sthalam, we are not only blessed by Sri Narasimhar but also the air which is mixed with medical herbs, will cure lots of diseases.
