Thirunarayanapuram - Thiru Narayanan Temple (Melkottai)

Thiru Narayanan Location:

This great sthalam of Sriman Narayanan is found in the state of Karnataka. This sthalam is reachable by traveling 18 Kms from Pandavapuram Railway station, which is found in between Bangalore - Mysore railway lane. Lots of buses are available in the foot-hill to reach this sthalam and the Perumal resides in the Mountain.

General Information of Thirunarayanapuram:

  • This Thiru Narayanapura Sthalam is also called as "Yadhothakari Kshetram" and "South Badrikashramam".

  • Sri Rangam is termed as "Bogha Mandapam" whereas Thiru Narayanapuram is greatly termed as "Gnana Mandapam".

  • This sthalam is found on the Eastern side of Cauvery River.

Small note of this sthalam:

It is said that a king from the descendent of Yathu Vamsam raised great walls and palaces keeping the temples as the center point. And, these palaces are called as "Mel Kottai" and due to the bhakti he had towards the perumal, he worshipped the perumal daily by taking bath in the Kalyani Pushkarani and finally attained Mukthi.
