Location:
To reach this sthalam, first we should get down in Kurtha Road Junction, which is found in between Chennai – Kolkata railway lane. And from there, we should catch other train, which is found in between Kolkata – Puri railway lane, and from Puri station, the temple is 2 kms to reach.
General Information of Puri Jagannatham:
- For all the Hindu, the Puri Jagannathar temple is considered to be a sacred and divine sthalam and almost all thinks of visiting this sthalam.
- It is said that Badrinath originated during Sathya yugam, Dwaraka originated in Dwapara yugam and this great kshetram, Puri originated in Kali yugam.
- This kshetram is also called as “Purushothama Mukthi Kshetram”.
- The speciality of this sthalam is that the deities are found in Viruksha (tree) roopam. They are made up of wood but not of any stone.
- This temple is said to have the largest kitchen (madapalli – place where the food for the Perumal is prepared) in the world and feeds thousands of devotees every day and food for more than 100,000 people on a festival day and for 25,000 on a normal day can be prepared.
- Because of the temple's intense religious importance and traditions, entrance is forbidden to non-Hindus.
